Nancy Solway

A major contributor to the Canadian pottery scene for over fifty years, Nancy Solway’s career has taken her from the countryside to the city of Toronto and from sculpture to functional pottery. In 1980 she co-founded Clay Design Studio Gallery in Toronto,  still an artist-run urban landmark. She was a ceramics instructor at George Brown College for over twenty years and was a long time member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Crafts Council. Nancy is one of five Canadians to appear in Peter Dormer’s book “The New Ceramics”.

Nancy works out of her garden studio in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood. She is no longer a production thrower, her new work is mostly hand built and one of a kind. Her ceramic work is available from her directly, from Toronto’s Clay Design Studio/Gallery (at Harbord and Brunswick), from CraftOntario (on Toronto’s Queen Street), and from the Gardiner Museum. Please send an email to join her mailing list for upcoming shows.
